From Akropong to Your Table: The Story Behind Sassy Spice

Every flavorful spice blend tells a story, and ours began in the scenic town of Akropong-Akuapem, Ghana. Sassy Spice was born out of passion, purpose, and a desire to make natural, healthy spices accessible to every home.

A Humble Beginning
Founded by Madam Sandra Asiedu in 2009 as Sassy Catering Services, the business initially focused on providing quality meals for corporate events and social functions. Through these catering experiences, Sandra observed a common trend: a growing preference for local spices and a lack of reliable suppliers.

The Shift to Spices
In 2019, driven by a desire to promote healthier cooking and inspired by her entrepreneurship training at GIMPA and the Hortifresh Female Business Accelerator, Sandra expanded the business to include organic spice processing. She began with staple products like ginger, garlic, and cayenne pepper, gradually adding unique blends like turkey berry mix and prekese.

Local Roots, Global Dreams
Sassy Spice is rooted in local tradition but aims to make a global impact. By sourcing ingredients from Ghanaian farmers, employing eco-friendly practices, and packaging spices in biodegradable sachets, the business continues to grow while staying true to its values.

Empowering Communities
Beyond taste and health, Sassy Spice is creating jobs and empowering farmers. With over 15 employees and plans to expand to 50, the business is making a real difference in the agro-processing value chain.

Today, Sassy Spice is not just a brand—it’s a movement toward healthy living, environmental responsibility, and Ghanaian pride. From Akropong to your table, we bring you flavor with purpose.
